its that time of year again. get them racecars all purdied up just so you can smash em all to hell first race of the year. as most of you know, i'm on a late model crew at the local short track. i just got back from the carshow at a mall 2 hours from here, and even though i'm probly biased, i must say, ours was easily the best looking car there, not one single defect in the paint. decals were simply awsome. it was also the lightest car in the show. (no engine or trans in there yet . LOL! light as a feather rollin it into the mall heh, not like anyone can see....). unlike last year, i actually had a hand in building this car this year. its the same car as last year, but a new body. i helped them tear it apart, helped mount the body, helped paint it. unfortunately i live an hour and 45 minutes from the shop, so i only get to go work on the car on saturdays anyway, ya, since you took the time to read my bragging, here some pics of the car.

more pics. better to dig up this thread than make a new one, I suppose. 8:00 AM, 5/28/06. Fog covers the speedway as the herd of haulers awaits the pits opening I never get sick of staring at this car...is there anything wrong with that? Those poor cows........those poor, rubber cows....... The track is quiet...for now....... Once the cars first hit the track for practice, the pits are a place of nonstop action until the last checkered flag falls several hours later. The aftermath of our heat race...2nd to last. We started the race 4th, behind the #87, who drew the outside pole. Apparently, since it was his first time here, he decided to be a second of the pace. He held up the outside line so bad everyone in it got dropped to the back, including us. The pace laps for the main event....with Rich Lowrey's Imagistics Charger just entering the frame. Thanks to the 87's shenanigans, once we did qualify for the feature, we ended up having to start towards the rear. The field thunders through turns one and two on the first lap. It wasn't until lap 63 of 100 that the first of two cautions would fly. .....and here's why. The #27 and #29 cars got together trying to avoid each other in turn one, sending both for a harmless spin. After 100 laps of green flag racing, starting 24th, and fighting to a finish of 9th, the only visible damage to the car? A single doughnut of the left side door. I say the only visible damage for a reason. On the final restart, a rookie up front decided to forget where the gas was; mass rear-ending ensued. We got hit so hard the rear bumper was bent. That bumper bar was completely straight before the race. 6:00 PM, 5/28/06. Ten hours after we arrived at the track, we're leaving a top ten finish richer and, after struggling with the handling during practice, have figured out what adjustments we need to make to the car in other races further down the road. If you actually took the time to read this, thanks, here's a cookie.
